The magnificent Casino Maltese in the heart of Valletta was the perfect fairy tale setting for the bridal fashion show from Spanish brand Pronovias.

I particularly appreciated the different waistlines included in this collection. I feel like most bridal dresses stick to empire waistlines, but I was surprised to see drop waisted dresses, very reminiscent of the classic 1920s waistline. I also noted a very eye-catching yet subtle pearl detail on the back of one of the dresses, which obviously, reminded me of the Chanel SS2012 collection. I liked that, a lot. Well, my favourite dress was one that seemed to be inspired by Grace Kelly’s famous wedding gown. Plenty of lace, a long train and a high neckline which emphasises the bride’s facial features.

Pronovias surely succeeded in satisfying every bride’s desire – for the classic bride there was the classic elegant lacey gown or a simple strapless dress whilst for those brides who seek to differentiate themselves there were gowns complimented with details such as feathers, ruffles or a simple diamond belt to give that dress an extra spark.

“Each had a different kind of grace to bestow upon the audience. There was a notable number of dresses with a low-waist, definitely one of the highlighted trends this season. I can honestly say there was not one I wouldn’t consider for my own wedding. I personally loved the embossed fabric of one of the lilac floor-sweeping dresses. Each dress was lavishly decorated, and appropriate as any bride would have it on her special day.”

As I grew up I always had that ideal wedding dress in mind. Since from a young age I have always had a guilty pleasure for wedding dresses always peeking in shop windows and always building up my idea of the ideal wedding dress. This show however, has put many different styles into perspective for me that come my wedding day I know I will definitely have various options from where to choose from.

The classic lace empire-line wedding dress worn my model Gaby Curmi left a dreamy impression on me. It had elaborate long lace sleeves, intricate underbust detailing and a seaming unstructured waist falling effortlessly into a three-tiered skirt with a long elegant train. The delicate lace detailing and long train reminded me of Kate Middleton as she had arrived at Westminister Abbey in her Alexander McQueen wedding dress. In other words, a perfectly romantic dress.
