“The sixth day of Malta Fashion Week opened with Gabrielle Fenech’s collection, Ruby Carol. An edgy array of 70s punk-inspired attire walked past the audience, capturing every onlooker’s attention. Models sported patent leather, bold makeup and uniquely-braided hairstyles – combined with the unpredictable bright skirt. My favourite part of the whole presentation was just how well each look had been styled. From head to toe, every design clearly expressed Gabrielle’s aesthetic. The woman wearing this designer’s clothing will undoubtedly look like the most confident person in the room.
Herman Vassallo’s collection followed in angelic tones and feminine ensembles. The refined manner in which Herman’s work stood out was like no other, with him having clearly dedicated great attention to detail. Rosy florals combined with satin, chiffon and elements of lace resulted in elegant attire I would happily wear. One could clearly tell that this designer knows how to accentuate a woman’s shape. Bravo!
The day closed with Ocantos’ creations. His bright, joyful collection felt like a breath of fresh air coming all the way from Argentina. Ocantos was inspired by his own paintings, and I felt that this had been clearly translated onto his garments, with each one looking like a work of art. The fabrics’ flowing movement reminded me of a warm summer’s day, and I know I’d be wearing this designer to a chic party on our island’s golden beaches.”
