Gaetano presented his couture collection entitled Nymph, to a fully booked show atop the grand Fort St Angelo. A crowd of anxious guests anticipated the edgy designer’s luxurious eveningwear line for women, curious about its connection with “nymphs.”

A nymph, by definition, is a mythological spirit of nature imagined as a beautiful maiden. After seeing Gaetano’s collection, I can agree that his couture gowns are definitely suitable for beautiful women with a mythological imagination, atleast where fashion is concerned.

The designer’s experience and sense of adventure shows through his daring uses of fabric. By combining panels of stretchy sequined materials with other stretch fabrics such as velvet, he creates gowns donning unique, multi textured looks with comfort and wearability for a night on the town. Gaetano also experiments with sheer fabrics and the illusions that they give. A sheer open back A-line adorned in sequins with gold or silver embellishments or a long sheer cape, connecting at the wrists are classic Gaetano styles.

A touch of western was thrown in the mix this time around with his use of long tassels and gold hardware belts spelling out ‘Gaetano’. Long black tassels swung from the shoulders of a black sequins bodysuit as the model danced across the runway. Black crops top and dresses decorated with black tassels emphasized the bounce of the confident models wearing his provocative collection. A tiny black leather princess dress was covered in petal shaped cutouts with a large opening at the chest revealing a lump sum of cleavage. Ruching under the bust accentuated the size. This power dress for a woman who embraces her femininity exemplifies Gaetano’s clear inspiration from rebellious, compelling women.

Gaetano certainly didn’t spare the flashy details as he went all out with adornments and decorations. Floor length A-lines were constructed with sheer fabrics, covered in black and gold sequins and embellishments. Models looked tough and chic with long thin chains hanging across their gowns in a warrior-like fashion. An enormous gemstone encrusted armour-like waist belt hugged the thin waist of a model wearing a completely sheer black sequined A-line. Starched tulle protruded from a plunging scoop neck, circling Victorian inspired black lace across the models chest. The movement of the fabric swept into the thin black cape coming from the model’s waist. Starched tulle popped out from silver flower embellishments like sea coral protrudes from the earth undersea.

It was all a dream-like collection, a mythical story turned real through fabric manipulation. Freedom and femininity defined this powerful collection of eveningwear. Daring designs turned elegant through luxurious fabric choices and precise pattern making. Gaetano has surely made a name for himself among the population of puissant females.
