Many guests sat on the rooftop of the historic Fort St Angelo for Day 2 of #MFWA2016, dressed to impress and anxious to see what Malta’s biggest shopping mall, Tigne Point, has to offer. Fingering through the Aldo goodie bags and watching the sun glide closer and closer to the horizon, we awaited the show to begin, which it did bang on time.

Armani kicked off the show with a classic womenswear look of black and white. Light and airy giraffe print trousers paired nicely with a chic leather jacket. Representing their menswear was another classic look of white bermudas, a soft baby blue cotton button down and a sleek navy baby blue bomber with all-over ruching details.

These trends trickled throughout several other brands’ looks, such as Calvin Klein Jeans, who contrasted sporty black and white with denim. Hilfiger paired a jersey-inspired mid-thigh length dress with denim and Garbo gave the black and white combo a nautical feel, pairing the edgy stripes with preppy printed pants. New Look sent forth a sweetheart version of the color combo with a black dress adorned with white lace around the hem and neckline. This was paired with a sporty army green bomber.

As for menswear, blue, white and denim seems to be the safe option. Hilfiger Denim paired a denim button down with preppy navy bermudas. River Island’s sky blue floral button down proved another great match for navy bermudas. A denim Terranova vest looked casual and cool over a floral graphic tee. Guess paired a light blue button down with a simple navy sweater and jeans. Gant and Lacoste dressed men in deep ocean blue shorts with a soft blue and white button down, while Punt Roma’s nautical blue, white, and yellow combination added a twist. Massimo Duti, Sketchers and Springfield all threw khakis into the “yacht club” equation, carrying their own classy blue and white combinations. Springfield paired khakis with a fresh cotton/linen short sleeve, unbuttoned shirt over a casual graphic tee. However, Massimo Duti defined comfort through their soft cotton blazer and khaki combo.

Springfield, like many other brands added earth tone orange and light browns as did Terranova under their denim and leather jackets. A soft white cotton blouse paired with a lengthy rust orange cotton maxi skirt completed a Calliope look. Bata mixed deep earthy orange with clean white and khakis while throwing in leather for a sophisticated style. Orsay created a fresh feminine feel with tan earth tones combined with orangey pinks.

Pink blended into and complimented several looks throughout the show. New Look’s white, black and pale pink combo made for a stylish set of printed wide leg summer trousers, perfect for the office and a evening out. Esprit combined pale pink with teal and navy for a fresh new take on floral. Soft pinks and clean whites were mixed with denim to complete a Stradivarius look. The male model for Stradivarius also looked fresh in khakis with a washed out pink short-sleeve button down. Boux Avenue even had sweet pink satin and lace lingerie sets. Guess spiced up the runway with a crocodile print co-ord under a fitted white leather jacket. However, Gant and Lacoste turned things around and offered up a bubble gum pink tennis dress.

While skinnies are still in for men, it seems loose fitting distressed denims are clearly the way to wear for the ladies. Terranova paired light blue distressed denim trousers with a collared army green tunic under a chic leather jacket. Pull and Bear styled her worn out denims in white with a soft white sleeveless top. For the gentlemen, he wore tapered black trousers with a casual tribal printed tank under an unbuttoned denim shirt.

Light, loose and airy were the dresses worn in several different looks at the Point Fashion Show. Brands such as Massimo Duti and Mango gave us lengthy dresses and body suits. A full pleated dress – top to bottom- in navy screamed ‘must-have’ from Massimo Duti’s collection. A knee-length navy shift offered a more subtle look by Esprit. River Island vamped it up with a sultry emerald green silk thigh length dress, black lace around the neckline, under an edgy leather jacket for a sexy morning-after look. To compliment, they followed with a triple-tiered lace dress in all white under a 70s inspired soft suede jacket.

White is certainly this season’s talk of the catwalk. Liu Jo had a light and airy white cotton summer dress and a soft knit dress paired under cropped and fitted denim jackets. A chic white Mvintage shift moved beautifully in the breeze with an attached cape trailing behind. A classic Mvintage shift in white followed. Hilfiger had a preppier white tennis-style dress paired with a long summer scarf for a pop of color. Aldo showed us a top to bottom sleek white look with a canary yellow handbag, and chunky heel sandals in white and canary yellow.

Asian-inspired patchwork jackets are still on our style radar and Bershka nailed it. A navy ladies’ bomber with patchwork flowers looked super sporty and ultra feminine over a light blue denim shift, while the men’s denim vest with the iconic Sailor Jerry style text and tiger gave the brand an edge.

As for sportswear, highlighter is here to stay! Urban Jungle’s earthtones were complemented with touches of neon. Highlighter orange and bright blue tennies were brighter than the sunset. Adidas came in with a bright combo of electric coral, teal, and black. Nike’s activewear combined black with deep purple, lilac, teal, and pops of pink for a trendy gym look. Oysho’s tropical printed swimwear in a mashup of magenta, sapphire, a touch of palm green and sunset orange looked sexy with a v-cut and side cut-outs.

All outfits were complete with Aldo shoes, while many looks were polished off with shiny Sunlab shades.
Pleased guests left the venue with their gift bags stuffed with Aldo treats to a reception where they enjoyed wine and a lovely exhibition.
