Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta 2015 kicked off at Tigne Point with an outstanding satellite show, consisting of Spring/Summer looks by forty of our favorite brands- all located at Tigne Point Shopping Mall.
The evening began with a deep periwinkle blue sky and a nice breezy forecast. Attendants waiting impatiently at the entrance rope to get in, anticipating the seats they would score for the show; photographers flashing test shots, adjusting their cameras; waiters and waitresses with glasses of Prosecco walking swiftly around the crowd full of attendants, Adrian strutting in his light blue blazer, iPhone in hand at all times; everybody was excited for the show to begin. The ropes dropped, and the stampede to the best seats began.
The show consisted of an immense number of trending looks displayed in two groups, the first being designer and the second being highstreet brands. From the looks of it, prints are all the rage again. We saw big bold prints in coral reds, exotic teals, bright beachy blues, soft mint jades, and pops of pink here and there. Head to toe mint jade and canary yellows left lasting impressions. We even caught a glimpse of subtle bleached out prints, printed on denim. Pastels are in the running again, pairing nicely with lightweight beachwear. And somehow military green always seems to sneak out of the trenches and back onto the runways every year. Textures varied from silky satins to combinations of canvas and leather. Models comfortably strutted in soft cottons with matching prints from head to toe. Long fringe hanging from jackets and bags swung playfully behind models as they danced down the runway. As far as hemlines are concerned, women’s tops are dropping lower and bottoms on pants are climbing higher and higher up those skinny little legs. Ralph Lauren once stated, “Why buy expensive socks if you can never see them?” That is the motto this Spring/Summer, as hemlines on pants are climbing up the ankles of men and women around the world. Women’s tops were swiftly flowing down our runway this evening, with the breeze blowing through the long silky pieces paired delicately with silky wide leg trousers.
But the question I, personally, have been asking for the upcoming collections is: To tulle or not to tulle? Well, the answer is yes. Tulle away fashionistas! The time has come to pull those long tutus and leather jackets back out of your wardrobe. These lines have quite a playful approach to their new collections, so sweep your fear under those dusty shoeboxes and let your imagination run free.

Here are tonight’s insights from some of the fashion bloggers:
“From floral prints and elegant dresses to fringing and sportswear, this show succeeded in showing the basic highlights of what’s currently on the fashion market. Both designer brands and street style fashion were part of the show so there definitely was something for everyone’s price range.” –Splashes of Looks
“There were a couple of trends that caught my attention and I thought it would be a good idea to round them up here in case you are working on your Summer 2015 wish list.” –Pavlistyle
“With all these brands on the night’s catwalk, it is difficult to give justice to each and every one of them. Certainly, the outfits from my all-time favourite Mango and Massimo Dutti brands were possibly the ones I liked most – but the Liu Jo short suit and Broderie Anglaise top have definitely found a spot on my shopping list.” –Confessions of a Former Size 6
