Timeless as Saville Row with modern cuts and tailoring, Gagliardi presented its sleek 2016 collection. Combining Baroque and Nautical elements, this line was inspired by the heavily ornate Mediterranean and the florid island that we live on. Rich in color with a contemporary flair, the label combines varied textures and luxury fabrics with traditional craftsmanship design techniques.
An eclectic mix of ensembles came across the runway, varying in form, fit, style, and personality. Formal suits came in rich and subdued colors such as an ocean blue notched lapel suit, accented with a salmon pink pocket square and a washed out grey peak lapel suit with baby blue accents. A bright orange and lavender paisley necktie looked dashing under a relaxed cream linen suit and waistcoat. Casual double breasted blazers with vintage style peak lapels added a casual twist to the dapper look of Gagliardi. Tapered trousers and polo shirts looked sporty while cashmere sweaters and silk scarves supplemented a dose of elegance into the polished collection. Relaxed tees with the ornate Gagliardi logo paired neatly with soft cotton Bermuda shorts. A sailboat motif across a short-sleeve button-down granted thoughts of summer and sea while a charcoal tuxedo suit embedded Rococo paisley patterns in the luxe fabric.
Seasonal shades in an array of colors brought out the personalities of each ensemble. Sky blue linens over soft khakis shared feelings of serenity and a navy cashmere blazer paired with strawberry red screamed The Sartorialist. Bright clover green cottons, Daffodil yellow Polos, velvety magenta cords, and washed out sapphire blues reminded me of all the bright colors on the doors and windows throughout friendly Maltese streets. Neckties and scarves were decorated with fancy Baroque patterns. The wind blew the garments as they glided down the runway, opening jackets to reveal the rich satin inner linings.
Anchors and paisleys, relaxed and ornate motifs, met to create a collection of luxury garments with a timeless elegance. Combining seasonal shades and exquisite accents, this modern approach to Italian tailoring provides a perfect wardrobe for a prosperous lifestyle.
