The Fersani label has gained an enviable reputation for intricate creations using quality materials, with a strong artistic touch from the designer’s own hands and tonight’s show has certainly gone a long way to reinforce this image.
Malta is such a small island that there are few places as remote as Maria Rosa Wine Estates. Apart from it being off the beaten track, the property has only just recently opened to the general public, so the mystery of visiting a new venue added to the excitement and anticipation of the evening.
For the fashionistas, the trip was definitely worth the effort, as Mary Grace Pisani’s creations never fail to impress.
Here’s what some of our resident bloogers had to say…
The collection is made up of a myriad of colours and delicate lace work, silky and shiny materials, tulle, fine mesh and a few thread knits which reminded me of dainty little doilers. All in all this show offered brightness, ruffles, classy pieces, dip hem, peplum, asian inspired kaftan like dresses, a touch of nature’s best and most of all, sexy, confident models who were not afraid of having fun and showing some skin. If I had to sum up the whole collection in one word, it would be WOW.

The first thing that came to mind when looking at these designs, is imagination – there was a very interesting mix of different concepts, often in one outfit.

Many of the pieces included some kind of floral and leaf details beautifully handcrafted on the pieces, some of which were embellished such as the black with silver floral embellishments dress which also had the floral detail on the collar that really stood out and added a feminine playful side to the dress.

I felt that Marygrace Pisani, not only internalized the trends we are seeing, but she also challenged them to a point where she made them her own. The trends were now following Fersani, not Fersani following the trends.

There were elements of lace, sheer materials, sequins, crochet and even fish swimming in water !! This piece below was one of my favourites, made with lovely black sheer material and an intricate lace design – this made for a lovely combination.

Water was an element which was quite prominent in this collection. One piece – the sea inspired cape, also included actual water. Other pieces from the sea were also present, such as in the finale dress with oyster shells.

The one with the parrot! I thought it was so simple yet so original and the model… she was my favourite. Not only did she make the dresses move the way she wanted, she really showed that she was having the time of her life modelling for us tonight. So expressive and the camera really loves here, and she loves it too.

Some pieces had an asian feel to them, we noted some slight chinese collars and silk materials which gave the piece that asian feel. One of our favourite pieces out of these asian-inspired pieces was an orange dip hem dramatic dress.

Marygrace Pisani is immensely talented and her work will not be forgotten after tonight’s show. I am definitely sure that she will be recognized world-wide in the future.

With the support of numerous sponsors, Fersani managed to put up a truly unique event. Hamilton Travel assisted in bringing over some of the models who stayed at Bay Street Hotel. Concept by Johns catered the event, with transport services provided by Johns Garage, Digital Eye supplied photography services; and last but not least Gaudi supplied some of the fabric, whilst Victor Azzopardi Jewellers provided a superb range of jewellery for an added touch of elegance on the runway. Makeup by Elaine Galea, hair by Toni & Guy.
