Applications opened for Nail Technician Award.
Malta Fashion Awards is not a competition, but an award presentation based on the individual achievements over the past year. These achievements are assessed by an independent Monitoring Board which evaluates the submitted portfolios and decides the year’s Awards accordingly.
In the Nail Technician category, apart from the personal achievements the technical aspect is also very important. For this reason, the procedure for this particular category works out as follows:
1. Evaluation – Professional nail technicians are invited to submit a detailed CV listing qualifications and experience together with any training, participation in fairs and exhibitions, TV programmes, photo-shoots, sponsorships, advertising etc. done between 1st January and 31st December 2012. The CV’s will evaluated by the Monitoring Board as part of the selection process.
The CVs are to be submitted to Unique Fashion Studios, Sir Paul Boffa Avenue, Paola or by email to nails@fashionweek.com.mt by not later than 8pm on Monday 22nd April 2013.
2. Technical Observation – Participating nail technicians will be required to demonstrate their abilities in any of these categories during a work session:
– Soak off Gel Polish.
– Sculptured nail with nail art.
– French Acrylic Sculptured.
Two experienced foreign professionals are being flown in to observe the technicians at work and assess their technical merit. These foreign judges are there to dispel any concerns of conflict of interest or favouritism in judging the technical aspects. This evaluation session will be held on Sunday 5th May and is not open to the general public.
Together with the Monitoring Board the judges will short-list four nominees and it is from these four nominees that the winner will be announced and presented with the trophy statuette at the final night of The Awards.
At the evaluation session the nail technicians may use any product or brand of their choice and will be required to bring their own hand model.
Although participation in Malta Fashion Awards is free of charge, participants in this category are required to pay a participation fee of €50 to cover the cost of bringing the foreign judges and holding the evaluation session. This payment can be made when submitting the CVs or on the day of the session by cheque or cash.
All participating nail technicians will receive four invites to the VIP area at the final night of the Awards which includes free drinks.
This Award is sponsored by Hand & Nail Harmony.
Employees or associates of Unique Fashion Studios or Hand & Nail Harmony are not eligible to participate.
