Since it was launched last December this website has received more than two million hits from almost 25,000 unique visitors!!…
… As expected, traffic peaked in May with 1.7 million hits being registered during this month alone. During Fashion Week itself there were 8791 unique visitors that generated close to one million hits (921,267) in that week alone!! Within a few days traffic levels returned to normal with and average of 400 people every day visiting the site.
“The sort of activity we have seen here is really amazing and the feedback from everyone is extremely positive”, explained Pierre Mizzi, media director of Malta Fashion Week. Enquiries from bloggers, journalists and fashion enthusiasts from all over the world continue to flow in at a steady rate every day as more than half of the traffic is being generated from visitors outside of Malta. Writers from the US, UK, Australia, Poland, Italy, Canada, Russia, India and South Africa have contacted the press office for detailed information and are closely following and reporting on Malta Fashion Week 2011. The event’s Facebook group is nearing 4500 members and the following on Twitter, although in much smaller numbers, is also increasing steadily with every new tweet.
Mr. Mizzi explained that the national promotion campaign for Malta’s first Fashion Week consisted of national radio, TV, newspapers and outdoor media and included an events programme booklet published with The Sunday Times on Sunday 15th May. Logix Communications ltd. the agency handling the campaign also experimented with a number of very innovative techniques to tap into social media and these have been very effective. “The bottom line is that people flock towards quality content. Having a great looking website that is constantly being updated with photos and details is just part of the story. It’s actually the event itself that is drawing in the crowds.”, concluded Mr. Mizzi.
